Welcome to Craignure Golf Club on the shores of Scallastle Bay, Isle of Mull, Argyll, Scotland

Craignure Golf Club

Craignure Golf Club is situated on the shore of Scallastle Bay, a mile and a half north of the ferry port at Craignure, alongside the A849 to Tobermory. The course was originally laid out in 1895 and revived in 1980 after a period of disuse. The course further underwent a new layout change during the 2012 season from the previous 18 tee layout towards a simple 9 tee and 9 hole design. The committee decided to make the change to reduce the unnecessary maintenance costs and simplify the layout to further benefit visitors satisfaction.

Printed Score Cards (including Course Map) are available at the Club House.

The Course

The course is a newly laid out nine hole nine tee setup. There are some challenging risk and reward holes, especially the seventh and the ninth. The seventh is a straight par 4 crossed by the Scallastle River so an over ambitious drive is likely to end up wet. Discretion is definitely advised. The ninth is a par 4 crossed by the same river which will collect any unwary tee shots.

Accuracy off the tee is rewarded, especially if the wind is blowing, so it is advisable to carry extra balls. The rough can be penal and, at times, nesting terns can make navigating the second fairway exhilarating! However, the course is one of the most scenic you are ever likely to play and with the sun on your back there are not many better places to be.

Club House

The club house is not manned and we operate on the honesty box principle. Visitors are asked to pay their green fees before commencing their round. Green fees can also be paid at the tourist office opposite the ferry pier. The office also has a limited number of clubs for hire. Pre booking is not required but do check the fixture list to ensure your round does not clash with club competitions.
