Nestling on the shore of the great river Clyde, Helensburgh is only 23 miles north west of Glasgow. With excellent train and road links Helensburgh is an easily accessible place to get to. Helensburgh golf club is situated above the town with fine views over the Clyde estuary to the South and Loch Lomond to the North. The 18 hole 5942 yds par 69 course offers a stern golfing challenge.
Helensburgh golf club was founded in August 1893 with an original 9 hole lay out, which was approved by Old Tom Morris for the fee of £1 plus expenses for the day. By 1905 the course had been extended to 18 holes. James Braid visited Helensburgh golf club in the 1920`s setting out several bunkers, which are still catching out the golfer of today.
Despite being only 20 miles from Glasgow, our course is in a relaxing and tranquil setting with stunning views over the Clyde Estuary to the South and over Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park to the North.
