Located on Hide Hill in the centre of Berwick upon Tweed, a historic coastal town and the Northernmost town in England, The Kings Arms is only a short walk from the town’s main train station as well as shops, restaurants and attractions which include the old walls that surround the town and the old castle ruins as well as The Maltings Theatre & Art Centre.

The surrounding areas and attractions include Alnwick Castle & Gardens, location of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films which is on 40 minutes away while Holy Island is 25 minutes away. The Kings Arms Hotel dates back to the 18th century, when it was a coaching inn known as the Hotel on Hide Hill. The ground floor and gardens of the Old Town Assembly Rooms were stables and accommodation.

The hotel had famous visitors such as writers Charles Dickens and Lewis Carrol. By the end of the 19th century, the Kings Arms became central to the town’s social life and was a base for the merchants and traders of the former corn exchange at the bottom of Hide Hill.
