Previously known as Ingon Manor, the word Ingon signifies a dwelling in the meadows.

There was a ‘Manor’ at Ingon and in 1329 it was used by the Stratford College of Priests, in1546 the College and Land fell to the Crown and was subsequently sold to William Clopton in 1553.

In 1645 a village of ‘PestHouses’ were built at a place called ‘The Hill’ which bordered Ingon. These Houses were used for people with the plague.

By 1790, Ingon was a small Hamlet with four farms and two cottages, one of these farms had a house on which was mounted a lantern used to guide the people of Snitterfield to Stratford On Avon. Research shows that this lantern was mounted on Ingon Manor Farm, now known as Stratford Park Hotel Golf & Country Club.

The Obelisk which can be viewed from hotel is located on the Welcombe Hills, a 148 acre Nature Reserve and from which the club logo is taken, was erected in 1876 by Robert N Philips to honour his brother Mark Philips, a Manchester cotton mill owner. Welcombe House now known as the Welcombe Hotel was built by Mark Phillips in 1869.

In 1991 the land and farm was passed to the Mason Family.
