Albion House Kent
A Seaside Boutique Hotel with a rich history of special guests.
As you would expect from a house which entertained royalty, politicians, actors and the wealthy, Albion House, Ramsgate sits in pride of place on top of the East cliff.
Looking out over Albion Gardens and out to sea there are stunning views of the Royal Harbour – the only one in the country. The harbour was given its status of ‘Royal Harbour’ by King George IV as a gift for the hospitality he received when visiting Ramsgate in 1820.
Ideally situated just nine miles from Royal St George’s Golf Club, the clifftop location of Albion House affords it an incredible vantage point over the beach, a view that stretches right down to the Royal Harbour. Our library of images illustrate the luxury found in our bedrooms and provides a taste of the views you will experience from them.
From our accessible room in the lower ground floor through to the cosy rooms in the eaves of the house, there are shapes and sizes to suit all. Of our fourteen rooms, twelve have direct sea views, so the only question for you to answer is from what vantage point would you like to survey the glory of the beach and the harbour beneath you.
Please be aware we have no lift which goes up through the building, however, we have a beautiful, 18th century Georgian staircase which is a glorious thing to behold. Please don’t let the walk to your room put you off, we’re always happy to help with your bags and the view when you reach your bedroom, will make the walk worthwhile.
The rooms in Albion House, Ramsgate are arranged in a fashion which acknowledges its original layout. As a place the aristocracy would have stayed for ‘a season’ during the 19th Century the first floor rooms have the highest ceilings and the balcony, the spacious sea view rooms on the second floor have a commanding view of the harbour and beach and the third floor cosy rooms envelop you in their warmth and comfort.
As a late addition to Albion House in the mid nineteenth century, this building now houses the Town Bar. With a wonderful laylight situated in the middle of the high ceiling, and amazing floor to ceiling French windows with views of the sea and horizon, this room is full of light. The Town Bar is the place to relax and sip your coffee or Martini, or put the world to rights with friends over an excellent bottle of wine.
Take time out to enjoy The Dining Rooms restaurant and lounge. Sea views and simply cooked excellent food await you. Whether it is a light lunch, a celebration dinner or a large corporate event, we can provide expertly prepared, fresh locally grown food which is simply cooked in our kitchen.
