We offer an exclusive selection of luxury rooms in Durham, enjoying an enviable location in the quiet rural area of Byers Green, just 4 miles from Brancepeth Castle Golf Club.

With unspoiled views of the surrounding countryside and just a short drive from Durham City. Our family owned and run business is dedicated to offering you the very best relaxing experience in a beautiful, modern, and comfortable guest house. 

Thomas Wright House offers eight beautifully designed bedrooms named after constellations. There are four double rooms, one twin / double room, one triple room, 1 suite / family room and one luxury room.

The luxury room, Aquila, ideal for a romantic getaway, benefits from a private terrace and Hot Tub as well as its own dining table and chairs we are happy to serve you breakfast in your own room if desired.

All bedrooms are tastefully decorated using heritage colours in keeping with the building. White wooden shutters adorn the windows.

Facilities include: freshly laundered crisp cream bedding, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, TV and Free Wi-Fi.

En suite is standard to all bedrooms offering a range of amenities and equipped with fluffy white towels and luxury toiletries. 

Thomas Wright House will be serving food 7 days a week, Breakfast, Afternoon Tea, Evening Meals & Sunday Lunch. The restaurant is licensed with a range of bottled lagers, ciders & beer, wines & spirits.

We like to use local suppliers wherever possible and our food is all made by our Chefs –David, John & Adam. Our Garden Room is a light and airy room which looks out onto the patio area and garden, ideal for family dining and small functions. Our first floor function room with bar has panoramic views over the countryside. Our restaurant is situated on the ground floor, many of the original features remain and we have a cosy log burning stove for those chilly winter evenings. A wonderful setting for Evening Meals & Sunday Lunch.

Families are always welcome – we have an outdoor play area in the grassed garden & a menu specially selected to cater for younger appetites including stone based Pizza. Vegetarians are well catered for, as are those with particular dietary requirements, we hope to appeal to all!!
