Lying in the picturesque county of Shropshire, the golf club is on the outskirts of Shifnal, a lovely village between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton. Previously a ten-hole course at nearby Brimstree Hill, the members were able to buy the existing Georgian property and 113 acres of parkland in 1963 and turn it into the present 18-hole course.

The layout was designed by Frank Pennink of C. K. Cotton & Co. although the inital work of clearing, land drainage and fairways was done by the members. The course is now one of the best in the county with it’s natural features shown in their finest form. Measuring 6468 yards with a Standard Scratch Score of 71, the course offers the golfer some really challenging holes which, at first, may look easy but soon earn the player’s respect.

The first half of the course has a variety of par 4’s but well placed bunkers at the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 9th make the approaches to the greens a demanding shot. The two par 5’s on this half look quite straight forward but require accurate shots to the greens.
