With 20 cosy, modern rooms and our emphasis on creating memorable guest experiences, Hillyard House Hotel, The Yard Restaurant and Mrs. Coleman’s Bar have everything to make your stay cosy, culinary and great craic.

After an extensive refurbishment, Hillyard House officially reopened under new ownership in August 2020 and has been reborn into a luxurious 20 bedroom, boutique hotel.

We offer a wonderful experience for our guests to enjoy a relaxing break with all the little things that make a difference. We are truly a ‘hidden gem’ nestled in the small market town of Castlewellan, near Newcastle in County Down. We’re very fortunate to be located right by the entrance to the stunning Castlewellan Forest Park and it has become our adopted ‘back garden’!

Our beautifully decorated bedrooms offer a modern and homely haven. The luxurious fabrics, and colour pallets throughout the building have added to our guest experience, offering quality and luxury throughout.

The fully licensed Yard Restaurant at Hillyard House Hotel has rustic yet modern feel and can sit up to 100 people. We have crafted a menu rich in local produce that aligns with our Farm to Fork ethos and supports a truly sustainable food industry here, one that is kinder on the environment and celebrates the best food on our doorstep – supporting local suppliers and working with local people.

Mrs Coleman’s Bar is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a game of golf in Newcastle, a hike in the Mournes, some family activities in Castlewellan Forest Park or simply enjoying some quality time with your loved one.
