Clitheroe Golf Club Lancashire

Clitheroe Golf Club Lancashire

Clitheroe is a beautiful, 18 hole parkland course designed by James Braid in 1932 and located in the heart of the Ribble Valley, it has been improved steadily over the years, has a standard scratch of 71 and a length of 6,323 yards.

It presents a searching test of golf without being too demanding physically, or too intimidating for the longer handicap player. Extensive tree planting in the last 50 years has enhanced the course and now accurate driving is essential. There are delightful views on all sides, Waddington and Longridge Fells providing a perfect backdrop to the mellow stone of Stonyhurst College and Mitton Church.

To the east, Pendle Hill is benign or threatening according to the weather and the state of one’s score! Clitheroe is a course of considerable prestige. County matches are regularly hosted.

At national level, the Club has been the chosen venue for the English Golf Union’s County Champions’ Tournament and the English Ladies National “Under 26” Championship. The club offers every facility to the visiting golfer, either individually or as a member of an organised party.
