Morpeth Golf Club, founded in 1906, is a private members club of approximately 950 playing and social members. Situated just 15 miles north of Newcastle, our course is one of the North East’s gems. Back in 1906 when the club was formed, the gentlemen of Morpeth initially played their golf on a field at Tranwell before moving to the club’s present location on the outskirts of the town.
The course was designed by six times Open champion Harry Vardon and offers you a golfing experience that is as picturesque as it is challenging. The 18 hole parkland course set in about 130 acres of undulating Northumberland countryside is often used for national and county events.
Local golf journalist Paul Corney in a recent review called the course “Magnificent Morpeth” and stated “It is quite understandable why Morpeth continues to be selected to host both national and county events- it’s just a cracking golf course”.
Visitors are welcome during the week and by arrangement at weekends and Bank Holidays. After play the friendly and traditional clubhouse provides a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a drink, snack or a meal. We look forward to welcoming you to enjoy our course and facilities.
