Welcome to Wortley Golf Club where golfers have enjoyed one of the finest courses in the area for over 100 years. It is an 18-hole course located in an oasis of peace surrounded by mature woodland. Golf has been played at Wortley for over 100 years on a course first established and developed by the Second Earl of Wharncliffe and still forms part of the Wharncliffe Estate to this day. Club policy is to continuously improve the course and the facilities.
Our visitors can expect to enjoy a top quality golf course, courteous and helpful staff, combined with excellent catering and bar service in comfortable and tasteful surroundings. The Club House has very easy access from the M1 Junctions 35A and 36.
The course is characterised by tree lined fairways, fast undulating greens, and good putting surfaces. With only one par five, a series of long par fours and five tricky par three’s there are few easy birdie opportunities. It presents challenges to golfers of all abilities that will long remain in the memory.
Visitors are an essential part of golf at Wortley and will be welcomed by all club and staff members. A full catering service is provided. Bar meals can be ordered on the day. Snacks and light meals can be requested after your game but full meals should be ordered before you play, through the bar staff. Visiting parties can have their individual requirements catered for by contacting our Secretary or Stewardess. Casual dress is allowed in the lounge bar during the day, but after 7:30 p.m. jackets and ties should to be worn in the dining room and bar areas.
If you need overnight accommodation there are numerous Hotels and Guest Houses within easy reach of the course. Our Secretary keeps a list of those we recommend. We hope you enjoy your golf day at Wortley and are encouraged to visit us again in the future.
