The Marquess of Exeter Rutland
Set in the picturesque village of Lyddington, The Marquess of Exeter is a charming country pub, a modern Indian restaurant by Krishnapal Negi and 17 charming rooms.
We also have a beautiful meadow for al fresco drinks and dining. Built in the red limestone that characterises the whole village, on the inside The Marquess is loaded with history and character. We think there has been a tavern on this very site since parish records began in 1563.
Today, guests can choose from two dining options: The Bar at The Marquess for carefully-crafted classic pub fare, ales and wines or Krishna’s, an exciting new modern Indian restaurant by award-winning chef, fresh from London, Krishnapal Negi.
Under new ownership since spring 2022, we are delighted to welcome you back to The Marquess for new experiences here in the heart of Rutland, the foodiest county in the country.
