West Sussex is a private members club where the pleasure of playing golf on an outstanding course is matched by the opportunity to socialise in a traditionally styled club house providing friendly service, comfortable members’ facilities and catering renowned for its quality and value. The atmosphere throughout reflects the enthusiasm with which members preserve the best of the old whilst embracing the benefits of the new.
Visitors are made welcome on most days of the year as guests of a member, or as part of a society or as a member of another recognised golf club in the UK or abroad. All visitors are treated as a member for the day and can therefore enjoy all our facilities. For those yet to make a visit, we can undoubtedly say West Sussex will make your journey worthwhile.
West Sussex warmly receives all visitors to the club. Most come as guests of members or within a society, but visitors without a sponsor are also welcome to play here and enjoy our facilities, subject to the usual formalities. The combination of high quality heathland golf and good food and drink should ensure a memorable visit.
This is a club of traditional ethos with high standards both on the course and in the clubhouse. Visitors and visiting groups or societies are asked, please, to make a prior booking through the professional. Obviously, this is necessary so that visitors can be accommodated properly within a typically busy club diary. The dates and times available to new visitors or societies for the remainder of a year are always detailed in our VISITOR DIARY. It is updated regularly and can be accessed by using the navigation link at the top of this page.
We also ask that visitors must be members of a recognised golf club and that they should hold a current handicap. A handicap certificate may possibly be required when checking in at the club. Society secretaries are asked to take responsibility for this, although for seasoned golfers a call to our secretary or professional should sort out any problems.
To ensure that full rounds are completed in little more than three hours the convention at West Sussex is to play either single matchplay games, stablefords in pairs, or 2-ball foursomes.
