Cork Golf Club Co Cork
Cork Golf Club is one of the finest clubs in Ireland. Founded in 1888, the course was redesigned in 1927 by the world famous golf architect Dr Alexander (Alister) Mackenzie, whose work includes such famous courses as Augusta National, Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne. Lough Mahon, on the estuary of the River Lee, forms a pleasant background for much of the course.
Built on free-draining limestone, the course presents a crisp heath-like playing surface akin to links. The course is particularly renowned for its many long carries from the tees and its superbly manicured greens.
Scenically situated in Cork Harbour, the Club has hosted many major amateur and professional Championships over the years including the Irish Open. Built on free-draining limestone, the course presents a crisp heath-like playing surface similar to links.
