WELCOME TO TRAMORE GOLF CLUB.
The Old Course at Tramore – “Championship golf at it’s finest”.
Tramore Golf Club located in the South East of Ireland is one of the oldest golf clubs in Ireland where golf has been played since 1894. It continues to be one of the most popular venues for golf in Waterford.
It became established as one of the premier parkland courses in Ireland and has played host to the Irish Close Championship on 3 occasions. It has also hosted Professional tournaments and major club competitions over the years.
Not content to sit back and enjoy their Championship 18-hole course, the progressive members at Tramore voted in 2006 to engage internationally renowned golf course designer Jeff Howes. (Jeff Howes is one of Europe’s leading Golf Architects having worked with names such as Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros, Retief Goosen and Robert Trent Jones Snr) to remodel the existing course, while preserving it’s integrity and also create a new nine holes of similar quality. The result is a fantastic blend of “the Old and the New”. Tramore now boasts 27 holes with sand based greens constructed to USGA standards.
The Old Course at Tramore Golf Club is a Par 72 course. This is the original Championship course which has been completely remodelled. It retains the character of the original course and has been upgraded to create an exciting challenge for the modern golfer.
With 6,700 yards ( off the Championship tees )to be negotiated, a great opportunity to produce a good score beckons on this course which is characterised by gently undulating greens – your putting game will be examined throughout your round! What’s more, the newly designed Par 4 5th hole – naturally guarded by overhanging trees – will reward those who possess the advantage of an accurate tee-shot.
The Newtown Course at Tramore Golf Club a par 35 which stretches 3,100 yards .
The first hole has been carved out of the forest that originally ran between two holes on the original layout. While shorter than the other two layouts, and containing 3 Par 3’s it provides no less a challenge. The 4th hole promises to be one of the features of this exciting new challenge – a 200 yard Par 3 which a lake guarding front and left requires an accurately placed tee shot into the prevailing wind
