The name Harry Vardon will chime with any fan of the game, mainly because of his record six Open Championship wins spanning 18 years from 1896 to 1914. Aberystwyth is one of only 20 golf courses he designed so it’s a rarity to be savoured. The game was first played here in 1911 and it boasts spectacular panoramas from the cliffs of the Welsh coastline to Snowdonia’s pristine peaks. Mr Vardon himself commented that “the views obtainable [are] second to none”. Sunset shows off this glorious course at its best.
