Birchwood is an 18 hole course of 6,596 yards from the back tees, 6242 yards from the yellow tees and 5682 from the red tees.
Birchwood Golf Club was designed by T J A McAuley in the mid 1970’s and was eventually constructed and then opened in the autumn of 1979. Originally there was no clubhouse, so the members made use of 3 portacabins which were effectively ‘the club’. It was not until 1985 when the current clubhouse was opened which made a tremendous difference to the way the club could be run.
The social events were then held in the new premises and the choice of beer became ours and not that of the local pub landlords.
The club really took off and we have now possibly one of the friendliest golf club atmospheres in the area. The facilities we offer include a sports bar with a snooker table and large plasma TV, the main bar in the club lounge with a view of the 1st and 18th holes and a patio area to sit and socialise before and after golf in the better weather.
We believe we are now one of the best courses for golf in the Warrington area. We have a relaxed dress code for most occasions but we do insist on correct golfing attire when on the golf course. For members and their guests we have a busy and varied social calendar.
