Carnoustie is public and has three golf courses. The golf courses are open every day and we welcome visitors from all parts of the globe. Widely recognised as the toughest test in Open Championship golf the Championship Course is a par 72 but with a Standard Scratch Score for amateurs of 75! Taking into account the “Buffer Zone” means that a player can retain a category 1 rating without breaking 80.

As Carnoustie’s second course the Burnside used as a qualifying course for Ben Hogans 1953 Open) presents a stimulating challenge to the discerning golfer, another true links course, the Burnside is a par 68 but with a Standard Scratch Score of 69. The 5th, 9th and 14th holes are amongst the most unique and testing short holes in Scotland.

Constructed in the 1970’s the Buddon Links course has developed into a very pleasant par 66 with a Standard Scratch Score of 67. A gentle introduction to links golf yet with some challenging holes such as the 2nd, 7th, 9th and 11th holes.
