Cathkin Braes Golf Club Lanarkshire

Cathkin Braes Golf Club, founded in 1888, is the second oldest golf club in the Clyde Valley, and is the oldest that is still on its original site. It is essentially a Moorland Course but over the years many trees have been planted.

Despite the name (“Braes” means “Hills” in Scotland), it is relatively flat. The Course sits 600 feet above Glasgow, which results in some stunning views over Glasgow to the Campsie Hills and the Southern Scottish Highlands and out to the isle of Arran off the west coast of Scotland.

Although it is only 5 miles from the centre of Glasgow it is in the middle of the countryside, and is widely regarded as one of the best inland courses in the West of Scotland. The 6209 yards, Par 71, Course is a private one, owned by the Members, but welcomes visitors by prior arrangement.

It is located in the centre of a triangle formed by Rutherglen, East Kilbride, and the village of Carmunnock, on the southeast of Glasgow.
