Downshire Golf Complex Berkshire
The Downshire Golf Club is a private club based at the Downshire Golf Course – one of the UK’s premier municipal golf courses. The Club was founded in 1974 to provide the benefits of club membership to male players of all ages.
It functions as a highly active, independent and non-profit making club – offering its members a full range of playing and social activities at affordable prices. The Senior section has one Medal and one Trophy competition each month through the year (at weekends), as well as special competitions such as Invitation Day, Summer Knockout, Eclectics, etc. It also plays a large number of representative inter-club matches through April – September period. The current expanding range of social activities includes an Annual Dinner/Dance, ‘Quiz’ and ‘Rules’ Evenings and informal gatherings at the Downshire clubhouse every Thursday evening.
The Club is run by an enthusiastic membership Committee – who are currently inviting applications for membership. Handicaps are not required – as these will be allocated upon completion of ‘probationary’ rounds. Committee members provide help and advice on play, rules and ‘golfing etiquette’ to players without previous ‘club’ experience.
