Garesfield is a mature parkland, par 72 course, ranked among the most scenic in the North East, giving views of over 20 miles to the sea on a clear day. It lies approximately six miles west of Gateshead MetroCentre.
The UK and Ireland Corporate Games selected the course as one of its two chosen venues in 2003 and have decided to return in 2004. The course, designed by Harry Fernie in 1922, has a good mix of par 3’s and four par 5’s, coupled with some of the best par 4’s in the North of England, especially the 6th, 8th and 11th. The fast undulating greens, together with water hazards, make for a challenging but very enjoyable round of golf. The course is increasingly popular with visitors and societies and will give golfers of all levels a challenging but enjoyable game. With full catering facilities and buggy hire available, a good day out will be assured.
