Hallowes Golf Club is situated in Dronfield, Derbyshire, on the eastern edge of the Pennines between Sheffield (centre 7 miles to the north) and Chesterfield (centre 7 miles to the south).
The golf course is on the west side of the valley, with magnificent, uninterrupted views of the Derbyshire Peak District. Over the years the course has been nurtured and redefined into one of the finest courses in the area. Thanks to a small group of far-sighted, enthusiastic golfers, who invested in their hobby over 100 years ago, we now have the current Hallowes Golf Club. We are sure they would be as proud of it as we, the present members, are.
The course gently undulates over parkland with traces of moorland, and is not overly long at 6,302 yards. It is being improved continually to a standard that the original members could not have imagined. In the recent past, new greens have been added, major drainage has been undertaken on fairways, bunkers have been added, re-made and in some cases moved to improve the standard of the whole.
Some 4,000 plus native trees have been planted. The historic club house was built in 1657 as a farmhouse and has been brought up to date with modern comfortable amenities. (see facilities and history) The Club has also hosted a number of important regional and county competitions.
