Situated about one and a half miles north of the A3, this ‘gem’ of a course is a must for every golfer, whatever their handicap.
The Hindhead Golf Club was formed in 1904 when a small group of golfing enthusiasts, including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the first Club President, began the task of converting barren moorland into a course that members and visitors alike are still enjoying today.
The course is set in one of the most glorious natural settings and ranks amongst the best of Britain’s heathland courses. One of the unique features is the contrast between the two nine holes. The first nine being formed during the Ice Age, the fairways shaped through glacial valleys bordered by slopes of heather and pine trees. In the early spring this vista is enhanced with a splash of colour from the rhododendrons and azaleas. The last nine holes are laid out on an upper plateau, but still retaining the wooded landscape with well-defined fairways. The essence and character of the course being complimented by its sheer breath-taking natural beauty.
