Kingsdown Golf Club Wiltshire

Kingsdown Golf Club is a friendly members club and was founded in 1880. It was the second West Country Course, the first being Westward HO! Originally the Course was laid out over part of the Northey Estate. As happened to many of our older Courses, Kingsdown was greatly affected by both Great Wars. Much of the land was lost to agriculture and the Club had to play a thirteen hole course.

It was not until 1967 that the extra five holes were produced and improvements made to the Clubhouse. Further major changes took place in 1987 including the improving of the eighteeth hole. In more recent years the Clubhouse has had a major facelift and the Club Committee continues to improve the Course and its facilities. The Course is always in excellent condition and is rarely closed due to adverse weather conditions.

Its Greens compare well with any in the region, members and visitors find it a pleasure to play at any time of the year. Currently the Course is par 72, S.S.S. 71 and is 6445yards in length. It has a putting and chipping area alongside the first tee. The Club has a large practice area alongside the third fairway that is supplemented by two practice pitching areas and a practice putting green. It also has ample car parking spaces and visitors will find a warm welcome in the Clubhouse.
