Kirkistown Castle Golf Club is situated in the sleepy little village of Cloughey on the eastern seaboard of the Ards Peninsula in County Down, N.Ireland. It is the nearest LINKS golf course to the city of Belfast (about 45 minutes by road) and is uniquely, the most easterly 18 hole golf course on the island of Ireland.

The main A2 coast road separates the golf course from the Irish Sea and outstanding views from the high points on the course include the Isle of Man to the east, the Mourne Mountains to the south, Scrabo Tower to the north west and Scotland to the north east.

The clubhouse was extended and refurbished in 2001 in preparation for the club’s centenary celebrations in 2002. We have a fully licenced bar, a conservatory restaurant and a resident PGA Professional on site. This means that all your needs, golfing or otherwise, can be comprehensively attended to.

Kirkistown Castle is renowned for its welcoming nature with regular visitors from all around the world. It is well worth a visit if your penchant is playing LINKS golf. You will have the opportunity to play ‘The Open’ style links golf at reasonable green fee rates. Kirkistown Castle has a tremendous variety of holes to keep your interest and being at the seaside means that ‘wind’ is nearly always something that has to be mastered as well as the subtleties of the course. All these factors combine to ensure that you never get bored playing this course.

Kirkistown Castle is a golfing experience not to be missed. James Braid wanted to take this place home with him in 1934. It is no wonder, come and see for yourself – you will not be disappointed.
