The golf facilities at Leckford comprise two 9-hole courses, the Old Course 6276 yards par 72 and the New Course 4546 yards par 66. The Old Course is set in approximately 100 acres of rolling Hampshire downland which forms part of the famous Test Valley. The course was designed in the early 1930s by Harry S Colt who also designed many of the UK’s famous golf courses, such as Wentworth, Muirfield, Royal Lytham and St Anne’s, Sunningdale and Trevose to name but a few. Leckford Old Course is reported to be the finest and most challenging 9-hole course in the country, if not Europe.
The New Course, having a charm of its own, is quite different. It was designed by Donald Steel and opened in 1989 and is set in 45 acres, overlooking the Old Course and the River Test. The New Course is ideal for the not so accomplished golfer, yet can also prove to be a challenge for the lower handicap player.
