Founded in 1885 by Sir John Lumsden, The Royal Dublin Golf Club is steeped in golfing history and presents a stern golfing examination on a truly magnificent links course and is widely accepted as one of the greatest links courses in the world. The links was originally designed by H.S.Colt, the world famous golf architect from Sunningdale. Located on an island in Dublin Bay, we are a private members club with a warm welcome for visitors from home and abroad. We believe we have one of the finest golf links in Ireland, but really that’s for others – including our visitors – to judge.

The Royal Dublin Golf Club has hosted many Irish championships, starting with the Irish Amateur Open back in 1894. The Royal Dublin Golf Club hosted The Carrolls Irish Open from 1983-1985 with Seve Ballesteros winning in 1983 and 1985 and Bernhard Langer winning in 1984. The Club has also regularly hosted the Irish Amateur Close and the Irish PGA.

A testing wind, plenty of rough, spectacular coastal views, The Royal Dublin Golf Club has everything you would expect from a true links course.

We know our true links course is unforgettable but we want your whole visit to be. That’s why we take extra care to make sure that all the other things that add up to your experience are properly looked after. Our team members will arrange your tee times, golf lessons, caddies, equipment and help you make the most of your visit to us. We would ask that our visitors are well versed with the traditions of the game and that they hold a valid handicap.
