Saddleworth Golf Club Lancashire
Situated on the north side of Manchester, close to the Pennine Way, the course occupies the northern and eastern slopes of Wharmton Hill and overlooks the Saddleworth villages of Dobcross, Greenfield and Uppermill.
Founded in May 1904 as a nine-hole course, a new 18-hole layout was devised in 1913 by Dr Alister MacKenzie the famous course architect associated with Augusta National, Cypress Point and Pebble Beach. The present 5th green is reputed to be one of the original MacKenzie greens.
