Sandwell Park Golf Club is a traditional members golf club and was opened on Christmas Day in 1895 on land owned by the Earl of Dartmouth.
In 1946 the Club purchased the land from the Earl and since that time it has continued to develop. The Old Clubhouse was demolished in the early 1990’s and a superb modern one built which is second to none. It is now in the enviable position as being one of the leading clubs in the West Midlands.
The course was designed by the famous designer H S Colt, who has designed over 300 courses around the world. Included are the famous links of Formby, Gullane, Murfield and Royal Troon with further afield designs of Royal Dublin and Royal Melbourne.
In October 1901 Harry Vardon and the then Open Champion James Braid played over Sandwell Park Golf Club and when asked about their opinion of the course both expressed “that its the best inland links they have every played on”
