Beechwood on Dartmoor Devon
Once two cottages and now one wonderful house, Beechwood on Dartmoor keeps almost all of its original character and feel but with more up to date facilities such as hot and cold water, central heating and electricity! Our water comes from our very own well, so there are no chemicals in the water, it tastes lovely and it’s so soft you don’t need so much soap either!
Some of the interior walls have been cleaned to show the bare granite including the huge lintels over the fireplaces. We have wood burners in the lounge and dining room, which are lit and much appreciated by those who have been out for a walk across the moor and come back feeling rather chilly.
All of the rooms in Beechwood on Dartmoor are decorated to maintain a simple cottage feel. The ceilings are low and the beams can cause a headache (!!) but the rooms are small and cosy. The sun room extension on the west side, is a lovely place to sit and watch the most wonderful sunsets over Higher White Tor.
Including the garden and meadows Beechwood on Dartmoor has nearly 6 acres of land where guests are free to roam and enjoy. Photographers and naturalists simply love the hay meadows from May to August when the orchids and other flowers are out and children are free to play in the paddocks at the back away from any dangerous roads, but may need to watch out for the rabbits.
All our rooms have remote control colour television with Freesat (including radio stations), tea/coffee tray and hairdryer.
Breakfast is included in your room price and we serve a combination of buffet style cereals, yoghurts, fruit and juices along with a traditional English cooked breakfast cooked to order, served with a choice of tea of coffee and an endless supply of brown or white toast.

We offer home cooked Evening meals by prior request from Monday to Friday. Please consult the menu page and contact us prior to your arrival to inform us of your requirements.
