The former retreat of the Windsor’s, our Victorian Gothic Revival country house lies deep in the Sussex countryside, steeped in history, dating back to 1850.

Step beyond the redbrick façade and you enter a world of gilt-framed paintings, roaring fires and even warmer welcomes.

Converted into a hotel in the 1980s, it still bears the hallmarks and traces of its auspicious past, but with one foot firmly in the future.

From acclaimed afternoon teas to relaxing rooms and superb service, Horsted Place Hotel is still every bit the masterpiece it was when Pugin first created it.

f your idea of heaven is 18 holes of championship standard golf before lunch, then Horsted Place Hotel will suit you to a tee (pun intended).

We don’t have one 18-hole championship golf course on our doorstep – we have two, with preferential guest rates for both the West course and East course. This makes us the perfect hotel for golf breaks in East Sussex.

The famous East Sussex National Golf Club is the perfect partner for a short break; with our grounds overlooking the greens, you’re minutes from this superb course, whether you play off scratch or are a complete beginner. If it’s the latter, don’t worry – the golf academy offers expert tuition for all abilities.

There are many stunning golf courses that surround us. The list of courses includes Piltdown Golf Club – which is in the top 100 golf courses in England.

As much as there is lots to do around and about Horsted Place Hotel in East Sussex, there’s nothing quite like a good old-fashioned lie-in – and with relaxation and comfort at the top of our priorities for guests, every one of the hotel rooms is designed with just that in mind.

Individually decorated and named, every room has great views – whether that’s of the gardens, country estate or South Downs. What’s more, book a hotel suite and you’ll also have a separate seating area to enjoy the vistas.

If you’re in no hurry to escape your personal sanctuary, don’t worry – every room comes with all the essentials like free toiletries, bathrobes, ironing facilities and free Wi-Fi – and our 24-hour room service will ensure you’re fed and watered whenever you need it – be that a bedtime nightcap or indulgent breakfast in bed.
