Built in 1789, the tradition of a country house is today cleverly combined with contemporary luxury and style. Beyond the landscaped surroundings are extensive vegetable and herb gardens that provide the restaurant with delicious fresh ingredients. 

Accommodation at The Red Door Country House near Buncrana in Inishowen comprises four individually designed and decorated en-suite double bedrooms. With complimentary wi-fi throughout the building and flat screen TVs in each room, some things have changed since the likes of Teddy Kennedy Jr and Seamus Heaney stayed in these rooms in the 1980’s. However, the good old fashioned hospitality remains. 

This Inishowen restaurant is popular all year round for its dry-aged Donegal steaks and fresh fish and seafood sourced from Donegal’s local fishermen. During the winter you can also enjoy beautiful wild game, also locally sourced.

Under the direction of Head Chef Sean Clifford, who has worked at fine establishments such as the Ivy in London, our skilled kitchen team uses only the finest of local ingredients, including seasonal produce from our kitchen garden. Our dessert menu, fresh breads and afternoon tea treats are all homemade by our experienced pastry chefs and are always well received.
