Both AA and Visit Wales inspectors gave their highest five-star rankings ever in 2013 for our food.

We have always aimed to make our food the best in the Porthmadog area and eventually want to become the place to eat in Gwynedd. Our high-calibre chefs consistently create exceptional, meals at great value, using only the finest, freshest, ingredients sourced mainly from local suppliers in Wales.

Our style is seasonal Modern Welsh/British with a contemporary European twist for the more adventurous. This style brings out the best in local meats, game, seasonal fish and seafood, vegetables and cheese, releasing their true flavours.

Snowdonia dominates the views from nearly every course in North Wales. This area includes the Llyn, the Cambrian and North Wales coasts and Anglesey. Choose from a great mix of challenging parkland and links courses – Porthmadog, Nefyn, Royal St. David’s at Harlech, Pwllheli, Abersoch and Aberdyfi are often featured in golf magazines as among the best in Britain.

Nefyn, on a Llyn peninsular cliff-top, is probably among the most scenic and nerve-racking courses in the UK. The championship courses of both Aberdyfi and historic Royal St. David’s – often described as the ‘hardest par 69 in the world’ – are immensely popular with golfers.

We personally organise North Wales golf breaks for visitors. Based centrally for many courses.

  • Our considerable local knowledge of courses, green fees and journey times – with navigation maps provided for each on request – ensures the most cost-effective and hassle-free break for you.
  • Every itinerary is tailor-made for each guest group based on your needs. We find pre-packaged products may be inappropriate.
  • Preparation of an outline schedule and arranging tee-times .
  • Gelert’s Bar can be open as late as requested for golf groups who dine with us.
  • If ‘other halves’ or parts of a group wish to do other activities, we can arrange separate itineraries.
