The Cookie Jar Northumberland
Your cosy retreat in the heart of Alnwick, Northumberland. Formerly the Convent of Mercy, this historical building has been tastefully renovated into 11 luxurious rooms and suites, and offers all the home comforts you could need with an added little bit of unexpected cookie-ness.
Proudly owned and created by Debbie Cook, experienced hotelier and wife of Robert, the award winning UK hotelier, and former Chief Executive of Malmaison and Hotel du Vin. It was Debbie’s inspired vision to convert this beautiful historic building into a home of modern hospitality.
The Cookie Jar aims to bring a level of hospitality to Northumberland, with an approach to sleeping, eating and service that is full of individual character, attention to detail and bags of style. We offer simple food, locally sourced, created and prepared in-house. We also serve specialist coffee from Pumphreys and are well equipped for all the outdoor pursuits you love.
The interior design for the entire project was led by Matt Hulme, of Dynargh Design, a renowned interior designer. Matt was the designer behind many Hotel du Vins notably Newcastle, Cambridge and Edinburgh.
The Cookie Jar is available both for exclusive use as well as on a room by room basis, and all rooms on all floors are accessible by both stairs and elevator.
You will find a 24-hour front desk at the property. An evening dinner is available to residents 7 days a week and can be served in the bistro.
