A warm welcome awaits you at The Peat Inn, in Peat Inn village, By St Andrew’s.
The Peat Inn is thought to have been built on this spot in the mid-1700s. Gradually, the surrounding village grew up around the Inn, taking its name from the Inn itself, creating our unusual address: The Peat Inn, Peat Inn.

Our accommodation offers eight beautifully appointed suites: seven of these offer a split level room, with bedroom and bathroom on the lower floor plus a separate living room on the upstairs mezzanine level. The eighth room offers similar facilities, laid out on one level, for guests preferring accommodation without stairs. Each suite has been individually styled and carefully furnished, providing the perfect space to relax. Whatever the reason for your visit, your comfort is our number one priority.

Discover a place dedicated to the enjoyment of outstanding food and wine. One of Scotland’s most enchanting restaurants, we offer indulgent Michelin starred dining in a relaxed and stylish setting.

Enjoy modern Scottish cuisine at the highest level. Holding a Michelin star since 2010, The Peat Inn offers confident, contemporary cooking, using the seasons as our guide in selecting the finest Scottish ingredients.

The restaurant consists of three elegant dining rooms, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. The original log fire place in the reception lounge creates an atmosphere of relaxed refinement, made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service. From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a last digestif before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.

Golf

It is almost unnecessary to say that the Royal & Ancient Golf Club is the home of world golf. St Andrews warmly welcomes visiting golfers from all over the world.

The various courses, a truly global attraction, have not just shaped the town, but seep into its very heart. Built on public land, the 17th and 18th Holes of the Old Course run up to local shops and are flanked by local roads. Any keen golfer longs to play the world famous “Old Course”. Green fees are very affordable – but beware – play is mainly controlled by a ballot which can be massively oversubscribed. A trip to St Andrews is a quite unique golfing experience – almost a pilgrimage. The town has almost been completely given over to golf and therefore offers the golfer every possible amenity. Even outstanding quality golf clubs are available for hire locally.

It may be hard for non-golfers to fully grasp the significance of St Andrews to the game of golf, but the well-presented British Golf Museum, situated behind the Royal and Ancient clubhouse brings a potentially ‘stuffy’ subject for non-golfers to life with the use of audio-visual and hands on presentations. Highly recommended.

Golf in Fife and the surrounding area extends well beyond St Andrews. Other charming and historic courses include Crail, Elie, Lundin and Leven Links, Ladybank Kingsbarns and The Castle course. We are not far from Carnoustie and the famous Open Qualifying courses at Downfield, Panmure and Monifieth as well.
