The Riverside Inn Herefordshire
The Riverside at Aymestrey is situated deep in the heart of Herefordshire countryside just on the southern edge of the Mortimer Forest, yet still close to Ludlow and Hereford and just 14 miles from The Herefordshire Golf Club.
Authentic and atmospheric, the 16th century black and white building is surrounded by the natural beauty of the River Lugg valley. A small and lovely village with lovely people completes the setting.
The Riverside at Aymestrey has accommodated guests since 1600 – at that time mainly sheep drovers stopping at the river ford. No bridge in 1600!
We’ve had electricity, WiFi, flat-screen televisions and minibars put in since then – and a bridge! Our rooms are all individually furnished, some with 400 year old beams embedded in the walls.
We have just completed a total refurbishment of all our rooms which now offer stylish shower rooms and one with a beautiful roll-top bath to relax in! There are complimentary Noble Isle toiletries, comfy beds with feather and down duvets, crisp white linen, waffle bathrobes and welsh blankets as well as a flat screen TV, free wi-fi connection, mini bar, homemade biscuits with fresh ground coffee and tea making facilities for you to enjoy. Our three suites are lovely and large offering a relaxing sitting area with views overlooking the River Lugg or the Aymestrey countryside.
Breakfast is always individually and freshly cooked using local ingredients, including freshly laid eggs from the village which is crucially important for the special recipe, scrambled eggs.
The newly refurbished bar area now offers two double sided wood burning stoves with sofas and soft seating to relax in for a morning coffee or pre-dinner drink.
The bar and restaurant have been deliberately kept in a traditional style – log fires, candles, hops and oak beams, bricks and stone. There is plenty of space by the river or in the terrace garden to eat when the weather allows and a wander around our kitchen garden is highly encouraged!
We offer hand pulled real ales from Cleobury Mortimer and Stoke Lacey; with cider from Tenbury Wells and Leominster.
